Its meaning is essentially based on myth-making - a made-up story about an old bell ringer, who rang the bell at the moment it The American Congress declared its independence. It has become an important ingredient in history teaching in USA:'s primary schools.
It is possible that the bell was rung July 8 1776 to gather the inhabitants for the first reading of The Declaration of Independence, but it got the name Liberty Bell first 1837 when it became a symbol of the struggle for of slavery cessation.
